We need stories for StoryCorps

THN is honored to have been asked by StoryCorps to serve as a community partner! Not familiar with StoryCorps? StoryCorps is a national, nonprofit oral history organization that provides people of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share and preserve the stories of our lives. The heart of StoryCorps is a 40-minute conversation between two people who know each other. At the end of the conversation, participants take home a CD recording to share with family and friends. With the participants’ permission, a copy will be archived in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

THN was chosen to help bring and share the stories of historically disenfranchised populations of people experiencing homelessness and those that strive to end homelessness. This is a great opportunity to give a voice to the population you work with – we know you have so many stories!

We need your help with locating people with stories to tell. It could be someone you work on behalf of and a friend of theirs, a relative, or you.

Watch this video for a great story and example.

To be considered, please submit the following by December 15th via email to Jennifer Paulsen:

  1. The names of the two people participating
  2. The list of questions for your interview
  3. A brief summary of the story that will be told

Those selected will be recorded between January 5 and February 2, 2018, in Austin.
