Keys To Ending Homelessness
This year THN will be offering a number of targeted pre-conference and regular conference workshops that provide concentrated training in areas such as: housing, community building, health, social work, youth and education, leadership, and advocacy. Please check out the pre-conference events and workshop descriptions posted below!
Pre-Conference Events Planned
10 Year Planning Statewide Meeting, Tuesday, September 5, 9:00 am to 12pm
This meeting is free and is intended to bring together individuals from Texas cities with 10 Year Plans, including those that have implemented a plan as well as those still planning one. We will provide opportunities to meet with other cities and planning groups of similar sizes and stages of the planning and implementation process as well as provide some technical assistance for specific needs. If anyone from your city government or homeless coalition is interested in attending, RSVP to W anda Robins at wanda@thn.org.
Statewide Coalition Meeting, Tuesday, September 5, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
This will be the second annual statewide meeting of homeless coalitions. This meeting is also free, and each local coalition is invited to send up to three (3) representatives. This will be a chance for representatives from every coalition in Texas ( and we now have 39!) to network and provide input toward a statewide legislative agenda on homelessness. Invitations have been mailed, or you may RSVP to W anda Robins at wanda@thn.org.
**Note: Our keynote speaker times have changed. Scott McCown from the Center for Public Policy Priorities will now open the conference at lunch on Wednesday, September 6. Juan Williams of NPR will speak on Thursday morning, September 7, and Barbara Taft, of Songbird Realty will speak at lunch on Thursday, September 7.
