Transitional Living Available in The Haven Apartments Located in College Station

Twin City Mission (TCM) officially opened the doors to The Haven on July 1, 2001. The Haven is a 24-unit apartment complex located in College Station, TX that provides up to 24 months of transitional housing to homeless individuals and small families. A full-time on-site case manager will provide direct access to a comprehensive array of social and supportive services. TCM’s Home Partners program can provide rental and security deposit assistance.

The Haven was funded through the Low- Income Housing Tax Credit Program; supportive services and case management are funded through HUD Supportive Housing Program funds; and rental assistance is funded with HOME funds from TDHCA. For more information, contact Paula Ralls @ (979) 822-5581.

El Paso Coalition due to open new Veterans Transitional Living Center

The Veterans Transitional Living Center, opening in September of this year, will house twenty homeless veterans. It will be a place where they can access services through the Veterans Affairs, Social Services programs of the Opportunity Center and employment education and placement through the Texas Workforce Commission.

The El Paso Coalition for the Homeless is proud to have been a part of this partnership. Funding was obtained through the Department of Veterans Affairs, the City of El Paso, and the Meadows Foundation. All are committed uplifting the spirits of the Homeless Veterans.

Other programs, open to all, not just veterans are in the process. A Fragile Care SRO for the more vulnerable homeless clients (mentally ill, aged, etc) is currently in the planning stages for a three story renovation project. Opening dates are not yet set, but April 2002 is the goal.
