The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today; Let us move forward with strong and active faith.

End homelessness.

Sounds simple, right? Ending homelessness is something that we would all like to see, but actually getting there is the big challenge we all face. There are as many opinions about how homelessness can and should be ended, as there are people, so how do we work together, as a community, as Texans, to end homelessness in our state? No one I have talked with has a complete answer, but we all have parts of the puzzle. Maybe, just maybe, if we start putting those puzzle pieces together, other pieces will fall into place.

Texas Homeless Network will devote the next seven regular issues of the Homeless Network News to exploring different facets of ending homelessness. We will address issues of supportive services, emergency shelter, prevention, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and permanent affordable housing in our quest for programs that have the best track record for ending homelessness.

As part of this process, we are actively seeking input from YOU; the people in front line service who are out there every day combating homelessness. We want feedback from case managers, executive directors, program managers, mental health providers, substance abuse providers, teachers, administrators, advocates, people experiencing homelessness, community leaders and any one else who is called to ending this blight on our society.

So stay tuned. You might learn something. Better yet, you will most likely teach us some things. Regardless, we will all focus our attention on our goal.

End homelessness.
