2021 Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness is CANCELLED
October 4th - 6th, 2021
It is a heavy heart that Texas Homeless Network has decided to cancel the Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness which was to take place October 4-6th in Houston. We believe that an in-person event is inadvisable as data from Houston and across the state indicate severe and uncontrolled levels of COVID-19. We are making this decision to prioritize the health and safety of event attendees, sponsors, and speakers. Texas Homeless Network will be offering refunds to every agency and participant who registered and paid for the conference.
Each year for the past 25 years we have brought together service providers and stakeholders from across the state to learn, network, and build a stronger response to ending homelessness in Texas. While we will not host the 2021 Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness, our vital work of providing training and education on homelessness and housing to service providers across our state continues.
We will move forward with a fall and winter 2021 webinar series to highlight many of the presentations registrants would be getting by attending our in-person event free of cost to the public. In addition, once it is safe to do so, Texas Homeless Network will continue in-person training and events.
We look forward to the 2022 Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness, where we will provide the safest, most educational, and most worthwhile opportunity for partners, community members, and other stakeholders to come together and learn from local and national experts.

While we are still in the planning process, here is a quick 2021 Conference At A Glance that outlines each day.
We believe the in-person conference will give the best opportunity for networking, learning, and connecting that we all have been waiting for throughout the pandemic. Over the last 15 months, we learned that the collaborative, engaging, and energizing atmosphere of an in-person meeting is nearly impossible to replicate online. We are planning our in-person conference to take place in Houston as planned, with the expectation that vaccination rates increase while COVID-19 numbers decrease.
At this time, we are not planning on having a livestream or online option for the conference. It is our plan to broadcast our keynote pending final approval, which will be free to view as a live event.
COVID-19 Safety Measures
With many things changing in the world right now, we want to assure you that as we continue to plan for the annual Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness, the health and safety of our attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and staff is our top priority.
We continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as updates and recommendations from public health officials, federal, state, and local authorities, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Since this situation remains fluid and the conference is not until October, we will be adapting and expanding our plans as needed from now until then. Our protocols will reflect the most current advice and best practices, so please check our website regularly for updates:
Health and Safety
- Physical distancing measures in accordance with local & venue regulations
- Increased hand sanitizer stations throughout
- Attendees, exhibitors, vendors and staff will be required to follow face-covering protocol
- Handshake free interactions
- Enhanced deep cleaning before, during, and after the event
- Increased sanitation of high-traffic areas
- Catering will employ the highest standard of food safety
The value of a face-to-face conference is immeasurable and we are taking every effort to make sure your experience at this year’s conference, while perhaps different from what we’ve come to expect, is safe, positive, and productive.
Please continue to check our event website for updates as we move closer to the annual Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness. We thank you for your support and we can’t wait to see you soon.
