Art Day at The Opportunity Center

On Friday, May 25th, The Opportunity Center hosted Art Day for the residents of the Men’s Resource Center. VISTA Member, Austin Briones and former VISTA Member, Amber Myrda started planning the event in early May and secured enough art supplies and donations to hold future Art Days.

It was a three-hour event with numerous activities, including canvas painting, stone painting, sand art, God’s eye construction, and adult coloring books. “There were many other activities that we were prepared to use, but the clients were too preoccupied with what we already had,†the VISTA Members said.

The project’s intent was to allow the residents to express their creativity, and more importantly, it gave most participants a distraction from their own situations.
